Erik Rommens on collaborating with KVMS

Rommtech BV (part of DTA Group) is an internationally operating EMS company specializing in the design and production of electronic solutions for third parties. “My father founded the company and expanded it internationally, after which we became Rommtech,” says Erik Rommens, director of Rommtech BV. For more than ten years, Rommtech has closely collaborated with KVMS, a partnership that has proven to be highly successful.

A strong partnership from the start
The cooperation began when KVMS became the distributor and service partner for SEHO machines in the Benelux, a brand Rommtech uses in its production lines. “I got in touch with Jasper van Meerten, and from that moment, KVMS not only supported us with our SEHO machines but also introduced new solutions like a stencil printer, board handling systems, and the Hawkeye 2000 component counter,” Erik explains.

Over the years, KVMS has also introduced Rommtech to other leading brands, such as Robotas Technologies, with which they recently implemented two Mascot THT assembly systems. “It’s really become a one-stop-shop solution, with KVMS always considering our specific situation and needs,” Erik adds.

A reliable partner that truly thinks along
For over ten years, Rommtech has worked with the KVMS team. “We don’t just want the best machines; we also want a sustainable partnership with distributors and service providers. There are alternatives from China, for example, but when there’s a problem, I want fast and reliable support. At KVMS, I always get an answer, even in emergencies, at night, or on weekends. That level of service makes collaboration very smooth,” says Erik.

A prime example of their proactive approach was when Rommtech faced long delays for the delivery of a new SEHO soldering machine. “To keep our production running, they provided a temporary machine. These small but critical solutions are why I trust KVMS.”

More efficiency and fewer errors thanks to innovative solutions
The impact of KVMS solutions on Rommtech’s production processes is significant. Erik mentions the Hawkeye 2000 component counter as a game-changer. “Every time you switch a component reel, you lose components, and the system doesn’t know. That puts you at risk of downtime, which costs us €600 per hour. With the component counter, that problem is solved, and we minimize downtime.”

The new selective soldering machine has also taken production to a higher level. “Reliability, output, and repeatability have improved. Machines and systems need to streamline processes and eliminate human errors. People should focus on creative tasks, not on error-checking.”
